Dear poets and supporters of Floating Bride Press,
It’s time to announce the winner of our 2018 Floating Bridge Press Chapbook Competition! We received one hundred submissions from across Washington State (with a strong showing from Bellingham!) The editors were particularly impressed with the range of voices and styles this year. After much deliberation, we chose this year’s winner, A Nation (Imagined), by Natasha Moni of Renton, and a finalist, Sublime Subliminal, by Rena Priest of Bellingham. Both chapbooks will be available in the fall.
We would also like to recognize five semifinalists, in no particular order:
The Light, Dying, by Luther Allen, of Bellingham.
Crossing Over, by Emily Gwinn, of Spokane.
The Word for Standing Alone in a Field, by J. I. Kleinberg, of Bellingham.
Portrait of My Daughter as a WIC Check, by Rachel Mehl, of Bellingham.
Wilderness/Kingdom, by Jory Mickelson, of Bellingham.
Stay tuned as we introduce you to the newest FBP authors, plan readings, and update you on our Evergreen Award Tour! We are sincerely grateful for the support you show us and could not do this without you. And honestly, who would want to without a vibrant community behind them?
Thank you again Washington poets and readers. You keep us floating.
With our best wishes,
Floating Bridge Press
